Regular medical checks are an absolute necessity. However, as you get older, the need becomes even more pressing.
One of the major factors in determining longevity in any society is early detection of medical conditions and proper management of chronic and lifestyle diseases.
Over 40% of adults over the age of 30 are affected by chronic diseases.
This increases to 70% by age 55 and 85% by age 70.
The most common of these conditions include:
- Cardiovascular diseases like hypertension and arteriosclerosis
- Poorly controlled cholesterol levels
- Diabetes
- Arthritis and other joint disorders
These conditions, when properly managed, do not significantly affect longevity, productivity, or quality of life.
However, if left unchecked, they can reduce lifespan by up to 60%.
Other conditions such as cancers, autoimmune diseases, certain neurological disorders, and chronic infections like HIV also have high survivability rates when detected early and managed adequately.
As we age, it is important to understand that we may eventually need to manage certain medical conditions.
This may involve:
- Adjusting our diets
- Staying physically active
- Taking medications daily, intermittently, or during crises
Ultimately, we can only manage what we know.
Recommended Check-Up Schedule
- Age 30+: At least once every 2 years
- Age 40+: Yearly check-ups
- Age 60+: Twice a year
Stay healthy and stay safe.
As always, your well-being is our priority.
